Expatriarch Radio launches on BLN.FM

5th of March, 2010 by Joey Hansom

Curtains up for Expatriarch Radio, a showcase of artists subverting gender expectations, from pansexual producers to D.I.Y. divas, with limp wrists and clenched fists in equal measure. Expect new and unreleased music (plus some classics and obscurities) to provide the soundtrack of our macho-centric society crumbling away. Insight and bitching comes courtesy of host Joey Hansom, a U.S. American DJ and journalist living in Berlin since 2007. The premiere episode features tracks from many Berlin-based expatriates, including off-kilter house from Israeli Maayan Nidam, Italo disco from Massimiliano PagliaraDiscodromo and , bedroom synth-pop from Swede Molly Nilsson, and trip-hop from Jahcoozi, taken from their forthcoming album Barefoot Wanderer on BPitch Control. Other highlights include a focus on Wendy Carlos, known for helping pioneer the Moog synthesizer and for soundtracking “A Clockwork Orange” and “Tron”, and La Roux singer Elly Jackson getting a verbal slap in the face for her anti-woman remarks.

Expatriarch Radio with Joey Hansom airs every second Friday of the month at BLN.FM, debuting on the 12th of March at 7:00pm (Berlin time, GMT + 1 hr). Available thereafter streaming on demand.
