Without a solo release to her name (yet), Barbara Panther has been one of Berlin’s most promising musical figures thanks to her distinctive voice, gravitational stage presence and uncompromising revolutionary themes. After a few years of live gigging and providing guest vocals (most recently for Jahcoozi and Acid Washed), Ms. Panther caught the attention of City Slang, who sent her to Matthew Herbert’s studio outside London to finesse her debut full-length into a finished product.

While her self-titled album isn’t due until next year, Berliners have a chance to hear new material at Barbara’s performance this Saturday at Haus der Kulturen der Welt, the perfect environment for her technologically aided primitivism, a sort of pagan avant-pop. With free admission, you have no excuse not to come along and nod your head to the sounds of Mother Nature castrating our global patriarchy.
