«Mort à la Différence» № 1
Brooklyn’s Light Asylum have a new documentary-style video of “A Certain Person”, the lead track from their In Tension EP, recently re-released on 12″ vinyl by Mexican Summer. This vid by Eden Bakti shows the duo along their recent West Coast tour, both onstage in neon-lit venues as well as flirting with mother nature. The song joins Shannon Funchess’s vocal bombast with Bruno Coviello’s synth work that recalls early The Human League or even a transitioning Van Halen, plus a horse whinnying (which might seem a little out of place at first, but Shannon is a total stud, so it fits).

Light Asylum will perform live in Berlin on July 23 at Chez Jacki along with Kool Thing and G-DMOTHER, plus DJs Nikolaj Tange Lange, Jemek Jemowit and Joey Hansom, and hostessed by Alexander. «Mort à la Différence» is Expatriarch’s first event, and the title is an inversion of (and an attempted assassination on) the classic French phrase celebrating the socially perpetuated myth of the gendar binary. Therefore, all performers and DJs have been selected according not just to standards of musical quality, but also for their gender nonconformity. Pre-order tickets via KOKA36.
