Stella Veloce is a multi-instrumentalist, a composer and an obsessive-compulsive looper, evolving her traditional classical discipline into realms of improvisation and live sampling. Experimental but not arcane, she is a symphonic refugee wandering across the borders of genre, performing solo and in collaboration with talented fellow travelers.

A native of Sardinia, Italy, Stella Veloce picked up the cello at age 11 and within a few years had her first onstage experience backing her mother, a protest folk singer. After a foray playing guitar in rock bands, she began working with a range of respected orchestras, whether in classical, opera or contemporary contexts. Most recently, her growing reputation has brought opportunities to perform at international festivals as well as the freedom to experiment in more intimate settings in her new home base Berlin.

As a solo performer, Stella uses cello and various loop and effect pedals to generate layers of seductive chaos and unrelenting lullabies. When playing with ensembles, she adeptly chameleons with the contrasting backgrounds of singer-songwriters, video artists, dancers and other instrumentalists.

Outside of performing, Stella Veloce has composed original music for national radio and theater productions. As she continues to follow her exploratory tendencies, the release of her first studio recordings is not far behind.
